The ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference (LIC) 2025 is the premier gathering of global and regional experts dedicated to combating Lassa fever and emerging infectious diseases. Organized by the West African Health Organisation (WAHO) in partnership with key global and regional health institutions, the conference will take place from the 22nd to the 26th of September 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
With the theme "Beyond Borders: Strengthening Regional Cooperation to Combat Lassa Fever and Emerging Infectious Diseases," this second edition of LIC builds on the momentum of the inaugural conference held in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2019. As Lassa fever remains a persistent health threat in West Africa, the conference aims to drive sustainable preparedness, enhance regional coordination, and promote research and innovation to strengthen outbreak response and health security across the region.
Over five days, the conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, vaccine developers, healthcare professionals, public health officials, and civil society organizations to share the latest scientific advancements, discuss strategies for improved outbreak response, and explore policy solutions to tackle Lassa fever and other infectious diseases effectively.
The Lassa Fever International Conference 2025 will feature plenary discussions, panel sessions, workshops, and research presentations, providing a unique opportunity for knowledge-sharing, networking, and action-oriented dialogue. The conference will also support the development of a regional roadmap that prioritizes research, enhances outbreak response capacity, and improves access to vaccines and diagnostics.
Through multi-sectoral collaboration and collective action, LIC 2025 aims to shape the future of Lassa fever control and contribute to broader global health security efforts.
